Volleyball

Homer 3, Concord 0: The Yellow Jackets lost 25-18, 25-14, and 25-19 in Big Eight Conference action. Iyla Weeks led the offense with 15 kills, Emma Burbo finished with nine digs, and Layla Hellard dished 17 assists for Concord. 

Hanover-Horton 3, Napoleon 0: The Comets swept the Pirates 25-23, 25-19, and 25-16, on the road in Cascades conference action. Natalee Krage dished 36 assists, and Lexie Schuette finished with 13 kills for the Comets. 

Grass Lake 3, Vandercook Lake 0: Grass Lake High School won the match 25-12, 25-12, and 25-19. Abby Buttigieg finished with 19 digs and eight aces, Mia Buttigieg tallied 18 assists, and Layne Terry finished with 14 digs for Grass Lake. 

Burr Oak 3, Jackson Christian 0: The Royals lost 25-12, 25-9, and 25-9 at home on Tuesday. Madi Conrad finished with five assists and four kills and Juliana McCombs tallied three kills for Jackson Christian. 

Western 3, Hastings 0: Despite the long drive, the Panthers were ready to play winning 25-12, 25-21, and 25-14. Brynn Rogers dished 22 assists, Kayda Herrick finished with 18 kills, and Finley Elder finished with nine kills for Western. The Panthers are 19-8-2 overall, 4-1 in the Interstate-8 Conference. 

Michigan Center 3, Addison 1: The Cardinals won 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, and 28-26 in Cascades Conference action. Sam Wynn finished with 19 kills, Jordyn Mees dished 30 assists, and Eli Noll recorded six aces for Michigan Center. Kaylee Johnson and Wynn combined for 53 digs in the contest for the Cardinals. 

Boys cross country

Grass Lake Tri-meet: East Jackson High School won the tri-meet with 33 points, Grass Lake finished with 36, and Michigan Center tallied 52. Michael Allen (17:10) and Javin Mericle (17:47) finished first and second for the Trojans. Alex Holda (18:47) and Benjamin Eros (19:01) of Grass Lake were third and fourth, and Nathan Paddock of Michigan Center placed fifth (19:06). 

Lumen Christi I-8 jamboree: Lumen Christi Catholic High School finished second to Marshall 39-45, Western was fourth (99), and Northwest finished fifth (125) at the Interstate-8 Conference jamboree at Ella Sharp Park on Tuesday. Top runners included Macy Fazekas of Lumen Christi who finished second (20:20), Chloe Khon of Northwest was fourth (21:08), Gabrielle Osterberg was sixth (21:31), Marina Walz of Western was right behind her (21:37), and Sydney Fazekas of Lumen Christi was 10th (21:48). 

Hanover-Horton 22, Manchester 36: Hanover-Horton High School won the Cascades Conference match at Manchester on Tuesday. Rogan Melling (16:43) and Austin Brown (17:09) finished first and second for the Comets. 

Girls cross country

Grass Lake Tri-meet: Grass Lake High School won the meet with 10 points, East Jackson and Michigan Center failed to post team scores. Ava Viegelahn of Grass Lake was fifth (22:30), Priya Mericle was second (23:00), and Katie Paterson of Michigan Center finished eighth (24:50). 

Lumen Christi I-8 jamboree: Western High School finished third (67), Lumen Christi was fifth (99), and Northwest placed eighth (228) at the Interstate-8 Conference jamboree at Ella Sharp Park. Top runners included Gannon Shore of Lumen Christi who finished fourth (16:58), Cooper Singleton of Western was right behind him (17:16), Isaiah Dinverno of Lumen Christi was sixth (17:17), Edison Lopeman of Western placed eighth (17:19), and teammate Zach Kubish was 14th (18:18). 

Hanover-Horton 20, Manchester 38: Isabella Berry finished second (21:58) and Olivianna Watkins was third (22:07) for the Comets. 

Boys soccer

Harper Creek 7, Lumen Christi 1: The Titans lost to Harper Creek in an Interstate-8 Conference match at home on Tuesday. 

Marshall 2, Northwest 0 

Western 3, Coldwater 0: Western High School is now 14-0 on the season with the road win at Coldwater. 

Girls golf

D-4 regional at Laingsburg: Lumen Christi Catholic High School won the regional title with a score of 361. Lansing Catholic Central was second (374) and Bath finished third (421) to qualify for the Division 4 state tournament Oct. 14, 15. East Jackson finished fourth (445) and Napoleon was ninth (490). Ashley Hilderley earned medalist honors for LCCHS with an 80, Michaela Hauer shot a 90, and Alexa Spencer finished with a 92 for the Titans. Anna McCubbins of Napoleon earned an individual qualifier spot with a 96. Mariah Kerley and Addisyn Rudd led East Jackson with 109s.
