Spring Arbor University Invitational: Here are some scores and highlights from the Spring Arbor University Volleyball Invitational. Western defeated Columbia Central 25-16 and 27-25; Columbia Central defeated East Jackson 25-17 and 25-21; Jackson went 0-2 in the tournament; Western defeated Concord 27-25 and 25-21; Concord split with Columbia Central, 26-16 and 22-25; Concord last to Homer in the quarterfinals 23-25, 25-17, and 15-12; Western defeated East Jackson 25-15 and 25-10; Napoleon defeated Homer; Western defeated Michigan Center 25-20 and 25-22; Michigan Center defeated Napoleon; and Western lost in the finals to Homer 19-25, 25-23, and 16-14. The Panthers were led by Kayda Herrick with 51 kills and 12 aces, Abby Nieswender dished 94 assists, Palmer Fortress finished with 60 digs, and Bayli Stewart finished with 18 kills. The Vikings were led by Bryleigh Zigenfuss with 19 kills and 15 digs, Kialye Harrell finished the day with 42 assists, and Kaitlyn Proevski led the defense with a team high 31 digs. Maggie Beer led Napoleon with 34 kills, Katie Fall dished 35 assists, Audrey Chapman recorded 33 digs, and Sydney Gallagher finished with 12 aces. Iyla Weeks finished with 46 kills and 39 digs, Bradie Lehman finished with 64 assists, and Emma Burbo had 29 digs for Concord.
Grass Lake at Onsted Invitational: The Warriors defeated Adrian and Addison in pool play, earning the No. 3 seed in bracket play. Grass Lake defeated Quincy in the opening round but lost to Madison in three sets in the semifinals. Hanna Alvarez finished with 58 digs, Olivia Turner recorded 26 kills, and Mia Buttigieg finished with 76 assists for Grass Lake.
Girls Cross Country
Concord at Mendon Invitational: Concord High School finished second as a team with 52 points. Haley Stimer finished third (20:56), Cieara Barrett was seventh (21:48), and Riley Adams placed 12th (23:36) for the Yellow Jackets.
Western at Holly Invitational: Western High School placed seventh in the 16-team Division 2 invitational. Marina Walz placed 10th (21:35) and Raquel Curey was 18th (21:57) for the Panthers.
Boys Cross Country
Concord at Mendon Invitational: Concord finished fourth scoring 137 points in the invitational. Lleyton Bauman was 14th (20:08) and Keaton Smith finished 15th (20:08) for Concord.
Western at Holly Invitational: Western High School placed sixth in the 20-team Division 2 race. Cooper Singleton finished fifth overall in 16:36 and Edison Lopeman was 10th running 16:49.
Boys Soccer
Jackson 5, Northwest 3: Senior Rubenn Lanphear Jr. had a hat trick for Northwest in the loss.
Western 2, Vicksburg 0: Western High School celebrated the renaming of the soccer field to Ron Rudland Field at the Panther Bowl with a shutout win. Roarke Watterson and Geo Bowden Fuentes scored goals for the Panthers in the win. Aidan Barrett earned the shutout in goal for Western.

Volleyball
Spring Arbor 3, Huntington 1: The Cougars split the first two games and closed out the match with 225-22 and 25-23 wins. Kendall Bollenbacher finished with 17 kills, Hayden Fortress and Camy Wedge combined for 39 assists, and Abby Rissman and Frances Churchwell both tallied 14 digs for Spring Arbor.
Women’s Soccer
Spring Arbor 4, Northwestern Ohio 1: The Cougars celebrated its 2022 NAIA National Championship on ring night. Lauren Marshall finished with a pair of goals and Ariana Stolzfus and Emma Dennison added singles goals for Spring Arbor (6-0).
Men’s Golf
Irish Hills Invitational: Spring Arbor University finished third with its A team and sixth with its B team with a total of 618 for two 18-hole rounds. Blaze Tanner tied for third with 150 and Zach Koch and Brady Krohn tied for ninth scoring 151.
