Volleyball

Harper Creek 3, Western 1: Western High School lost its first Interstate-8 Conference match of the season 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, and 27-25 at home on Wednesday. Kayda Herrick finished with 16 kills and 24 digs, Finley Elder tallied 15 kills, and Brynn Rogers dished 41 assists for Western (16-6-1 overall, 3-1 I-8).

 

Boys cross country

Big Eight Jamboree at Springport: Concord High School finished second to Jonesville with 77 points and Springport failed to post a team score. Adair Artis of Concord finished second (17:22) and Isaac Waldron was 10th (18:31). Landon Root of Springport finished 48th (22:10).  

East Jackson 28, Napoleon 29: The Trojans edged the Pirates in Cascades Conference action. Michael Allen (17:06), Javin Mericle (17:12), and Colton Raffensberger (19:23) took places 1, 2, and 4 respectively for the Trojans. Kyler Pequet finished third for Napoleon in 17:41

Jackson at Tecumseh: Jackson High School finished fifth in the Southeastern Conference jamboree with 148 points. Elisha Correll of Jackson finished 32nd (19:09) and Andrew England was 36th (19:30). 

Girls cross country

Big Eight Jamboree at Springport: Concord High School finished second to Union City and Springport failed to post a team score at a Big Eight jamboree. Cieara Barrett finished third (21:49) for Concord, Saige Patterson of Springport was seventh (22:32), and Riley Adams from CHS placed 11th (22:58). 

Napoleon 17, East Jackson 47: Napoleon High School easily defeated the Trojans in Cascades Conference cross country action. Lauren McLain (21:03), Madelyn Norman (21:59), and Alexa Burgess (22:18) finished Nos. 1-3 respectively for the Pirates. Priya Mericle was fourth for East Jackson in 22:25. 

Jackson at Tecumseh: Grace Brown was 22nd (23:31) and teammate Maya Hitchingham was right behind her (23:37) at the Southeastern Conference jamboree. Jackson failed to post a score with only four runners. 

Boys soccer

Chelsea 2, Jackson 0: The Vikings fell on the road Wednesday in Southeastern Conference action.  

Western 7, Hastings 0: Jeff Palmer scored two goals in the second half for Western. Single goals were scored by Kellen Eva, Quentin Eva, Roarke Watterson, Wittaker Watterson, and Christian Roza. The Panthers are 12-0 having only given up five goals this season. 

Girls golf

Jackson at SEC Final: Jackson High School finished third with a team score of 412. Natalie Kulka earned medalist honors with a 75 and Felicia Huffman tied for sixth with a 95 for Jackson.  

Boys tennis

Lumen Christi 7, Columbia Central 1: Daniel Pero earned the only win for CCHS with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Nash Hanchett, Noah Lee, and Luke Tropea won matches at Nos. 2-4, giving up only two games.
