Wrestling

Napoleon at Bedford Invitational: Napoleon High School finished fourth as a team at Bedford High School. Nick Marienfeld remained undefeated (21-0) earning a title at 160 pounds. Brady Brooks finished second at 285 pounds as did Bart Laretz at 171 pounds for the Pirates. The annual Napoleon Invitational was cancelled due to lack of referees. 

Grass Lake at Clinton Inv.: Matt Ranking of Grass Lake finished second at 125 pounds at the 46th annual Dave Elliott Memorial Tournament at Clinton High School. Sam Edie finished third at 112 pounds Jack Reid was fifth at 189 pounds. 

Concord at St. Louis Inv.: Concord High School finished 13th at the Threloff Invitational at St. Louis High School. 

Northwest Team Tournament: Northwest High School finished third at their own team tournament on Saturday. The Mounties defeated Brighton 54-24 and Hanover-Horton 57-12. The Comets finished fifth in the tournament.  David Fielder went 4-0 with three pins and a hard fought 14-13 win for the Comets. 

Jackson at Homer Inv.: Jackson High School went 5-0 on the day to earn the title at the 25th annual Jason Caudill Memorial Tournament at Homer High School. Andrew Covalle, Jaylon Riggins, Malik Monroe, Trevor Morehouse, and Gabe Hoover went 5-0 on the day for the Vikings. 

Western Invitational: The 58th annual Jim Dewland Chaos Classic at Western High School featured a number of local wrestlers in the finals. Western, Lumen Christi, East Jackson, and Columbia Central competed in the individual tournament. Gage Parker won at 160 pounds for Western at Jim Dewland Classic; Dylan Osbourne of East Jackson was second at 215 pounds; Dominic Honsinger remained undefeated on the season for Western with a win at 285 pounds; Kaden Engelter won the title for Western at 103 pounds; Stephen Hertzfeld of East Jackson earned first place at 112 pounds; Titan Parker of Western was second at 119 pounds; Travis Frederick of Lumen Christi took the title at 125 pounds; Lincoln Raczkowski of Western won the championship at 130 pounds; Reid Garcia of Lumen Christi placed second at 135 pounds; Jacob Singleton of Western remained undefeated on the season with a win at 145 pounds. Western easily won the team title with 228 points, Lumen Christi was eighth, East Jackson finished ninth, and Columbia Central placed 13th in the 16-team tournament. 

Michigan Center at Chelsea Invitational: The Cardinals lost to Chelsea and Fowlerville. Clayton Clark earned a pin for the Cardinals at 145 pounds against Fowlerville.  

Addison at Colon Inv.: Addison won the annual Jamie Palmer Memorial Tournament at Colon High School with 171 points.  

Competitive cheer

Leslie Invitational: Columbia Central High School finished third in the upper division competition at Leslie High School. The Golden Eagles finished with a three-round total of 565. Napoleon finished fourth in the lower division with 554. 

Northwest at Allen Park Inv.: Northwest High School finished sixth in Division 2 at Allen Park with a score of 536.   

Gymnastics

Rockford Invitational: Jackson Area Gymnastics finished third (139.975) and Tec/Man/CCHS finished 10th (128.5) at the Flip Flop Gymnastics Invitational at Rockford High School. Alyssa Budd from Napoleon was third in the vault, second on the beam, second on the floor exercise, and third in the all-around. Jenna Bradley of Lumen Christi won the beam and Ally Thrun for Northwest was eighth on the floor exercise. Megan Jones of Jackson finished ninth in the all-around in the Division 2 competition. 

Hockey

Chelsea 8, Jackson United 2

Lumen Christi 2, Kalamazoo 1: Kavin Kennedy scored both goals for the Titans in the win. Nash Hanchett tallied two assists and Matt Hoop earned the win in goal for Lumen Christi (8-3). 

Bowling

LCAA jamboree: Columbia Central High School won its first ever Lenawee County Athletic Association jamboree at Ten Pin Alley on Friday night. Shanna Dettloff led the Golden Eagles with games of 230 and 169. Niya Holbert finished with games of 171 and 194. Brayden Steele rolled a season-high 236 for CCHS in the boys’ event. Jake Luna rolled a 216 game and Caleb Gritzmaker finished with a 213 game for the Golden Eagles. 

Boys basketball

Lumen Christi 49, Hastings 46: The Titans earned an Interstate-8 Conference win on the road Friday night.
