Volleyball

Western Invitational: The meet replaced the annual Jackson County Tournament at Spring Arbor University. Western hosted the event with Columbia Central, Michigan Center, Northwest, Springport, Hanover-Horton, Concord, and Napoleon. Columbia Central finished as the No. 1 seed with a record of 5-1 in pool play. Western was second (5-1), Northwest placed third (4-2), Concord was fourth (3-3), Napoleon fifth (2-4), and Michigan Center was sixth (2-4). Hanover-Horton (2-4) and Springport (1-5) did not advance to the stepladder tournament. The two top seeds had byes in the first round of the stepladder. Columbia Central defeated Western in the invitational final giving the Panthers its first loss of the season. Napoleon claimed third place in the tournament as Momo Hampton was named to the all-tournament team with 48 assists and 26 digs on the day. The Golden Eagles completed the sweep as the junior varsity team defeated Napoleon in the JV Invitational at Western. 

Boys Cross Country

Mendon Invitational: Concord High School finished second at the Mendon Invitational on Saturday. Kalamazoo Homeschool took first with 36 points and Concord scored 41. Jonathan Mikovits (17:46), Joe Bulko (18:40) and Adair Artis (19:12) all finished in the top eight for the Yellow Jackets. 

Charlotte Invitational: Springport finished fourth, Northwest fifth, and Jackson Prep & Early College placed sixth at the Charlotte Invitational on Saturday. Dylan Sanford of Springport finished 10th (19:35), Hudson Cooper of Northwest was 11th (19:37), and John Yarbrough finished right behind him (19:57) for Jackson Prep. 

Holly Invitational: Lumen Christi finished third in the Division 4 race at Holly. Isaiah Dinverno finished seventh for the Titans in 17:56. 

Girls Cross Country

Mendon Invitational: Concord runner Haylee Rinehart finished ninth in the girls’ race in 23:22. The Yellow Jackets did not post a team score at the event. 

Charlotte Invitational: Northwest finished third in the girls’ 5K event. Lainey Reynolds of Northwest was seventh (23:35) and teammate Stacia Hedrich was right behind her (23:38). Kamren Steward of Springport was 16th (25:05) and Olivia Ortell of Jackson Prep was 19th (25:26). 

Holly Invitational:  Lumen Christi won the Division 4 race with 35 points at the Holly Invitational. Madison Osterberg (18:50) and teammate Faith Smith (19:11) of Lumen Christi finished first and second, respectively. Freshman Layla Lopez finished eighth in 20:56 for the Titans. 

Boys Soccer

Ypsilanti 2, Jackson 1: Brayon Tanner scored the only goal of the game for the Vikings. The senior scored with 9:20 remaining in the first half for the Vikings. Ypsilanti scored seven minutes later, tying the contest at halftime. The Grizzlies scored the only goal in the second half. Jackson spoiled a solid performance by Patrick Deer in goal for the Vikings. 

Football

Britton Deerfield 68, Vandercook Lake 0: The Jayhawks fall to 0-4 with the road loss on Saturday.
