Michigan Center 3, Addison 2: The two Cascades Conference schools battled on Monday with the Cardinals winning game five 15-6. Kennedy Kelley scored 19 points at the service line and dished 29 assists. Sam Wynn finished with 12 kills and 27 digs, Kaylee Johnson finished with 27 digs, Kaylee Johnson tallied 34 digs, and Olivia Shown finished with 12 kills for Michigan Center.
Grass Lake 3, Vandercook Lake 0: Grass Lake High School junior Abby Buttigieg tallied 19 digs, was 30-for-30 serving, with 24 points and eight aces. Cheyenne Mosher finished with 22 assists and Ruby Johnson recorded eight kills for Grass Lake.
Napoleon 3, Hanover-Horton 0: The Pirates won 25-6, 25-20, 25-18 in Cascades Conference action. Momo Hampton scored 22 consecutive points in the first set and finished the night with 24 service points and three aces. Alyssa Budd scored 12 kills and Kaitlyn Pequet had 22 digs for Napoleon. The Pirates are now over the .500 mark with the win – 9-8-1 overall, 3-0 in Cascades Conference.
Concord 3, Springport 0: The Yellow Jackets improved to 2-1 in the Big Eight Conference with a 25-10, 25-16, and 25-18 win over the Spartans. Rylee Weeks set the tone with 13 consecutive points to start the match. She finished with 28-for-29 serving with six aces. Georgia Weeks had nine kills and six aces and Hadley Kettwich finished with 19 assists for Concord. Springport is 1-7-1 overall, 1-2 in the Big Eight.
Boys Cross country
Napoleon, Vandercook at Addison: Napoleon High School took four of the top five spots defeating Addison 16-29. NHS sophomore Kyler Pequet took first place with a time of 18:14 and Joshua Darling finished second for the Pirates in 20:05. Vandercook did not have any runners in the boys’ race.
Grass Lake, Michigan Center at Hanover-Horton: The Comets dominated the meet taking six of the top nine places on a rainy night in Hanover. The Comets scored 20 points, Michigan Center tallied 50, and Grass Lake 61. Rogan Melling took first place (16:25), teammate Evan Shepherd was second (17:33), and Matt Rankin of Grass Lake was third (17:37). Michael VanRiper finished sixth for the Cardinals in 19:52.
Manchester 15, East Jackson 41: David Loomis finished sixth for the Trojans in 19:23.
Girls Cross country
Napoleon, Vandercook at Addison: The Pirates finished with five of the top seven spots at Addison to win 24-34. Madelyn Norman finished second running 22:09. Teammate Alexa Burgess was fourth in 22:59. The Jayhawks did not have enough runners to post a team score.
Grass Lake, Michigan Center at Hanover-Horton: Grass Lake slipped past the Comets 26-30. The Warriors took three of the four top spots with sophomore Ava Viegelahn taking first place (19:58), teammate Madison Basham was third (21:27), and Grace Bullock was fourth (21:37). Sophia Reynolds of HHHS finished second with a time of 20:42. Michigan Center failed to post a team score.
Manchester 15, East Jackson 53: Priya Mericle of East Jackson finished third overall with a time of 22:42.
Jackson 2, Chelsea 0: Patrick Deer earned the shutout win in goal for the Vikings.

Northwest 2, Hastings 2
Marshall 2, Western 1: Two of the top teams in the Interstate-8 Conference battled in the rain at Western on Tuesday night. Western scored before five minutes had been played in the match as Christian Roza scored on an assist from Wyatt Robinson. Marshall was able to tie the score prior to halftime and scored with seven minutes remaining in the game for the victory.
Hillsdale 6, Columbia Central 0: The Golden Eagles fell to the Hornets in Lenawee County Athletic Association action on Monday.
IGL conference finals: Columbia Central finishes second to Lenawee Christian, 378-288, and Concord was fourth at 498. Logan Bentley of CCHS earned medalist honors with an 81 and teammate Lindsey Swank finished fifth with a 98. Concord was led by Sidney Marshall with a 113. Bentley earned the top spot in the Independent Golf League based on scoring averages and earned first-team all-conference. Marrisa Berro, Swank, and Emily Fox of CCHS earned second-team honors as did Faith Moore of Concord.
Grass Lake moves on to regional: The Grass Lake equestrian team qualified for regionals this weekend. The Warriors had nine first place finishes out of 17 events. Paige Hubert had four wins, Matthew Rankin finished with three first-place finishes, Katherine McClelland had two first place finishes, and Cierra Chapo scored points in showmanship and speed, and Anna Schwerin placed in all her classes. The team will be traveling to Mason Fair and Show Grounds on Friday, Oct. for the regionals. Regional competition will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Oct. 1-3. Only the top two teams in each district qualify for regionals.
