(May 12, 2020 12:05 PM) The Jackson Hot Air Jubilee committee announced today the Hot Air Jubilee is being postponed until 2020.  Originally scheduled for July 23-26, the popular annual summer event, sponsored by American 1 Credit Union, will be held July 22-25, 2021.

In making the announcement, Jeff Knapp, Vice Chair of the Jubilee said, “After much evaluation, discussion, and careful consideration we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with the 2020 event.  We know that long-standing traditions are needed now more than ever, but given the reality of COVID-19, our highest priority is the health and safety of our guests, participants, staff, volunteers, and community.  We are confident our sponsors will stand with us, the pilots and vendors will return, and the community will once again enjoy the Hot Air Jubilee next year if we are fiscally responsible now.”

Knapp said the Jubilee committee was facing too many uncertainties to guarantee the health and safety of the community and the thousands of people that the event attracts to Ella Sharp Park.  Knapp said, “ We also reached the point in our planning where the obligations to our sponsors, pilots, vendors, and other partners required the attention they deserve to make their own business decisions.  During this period of time, we simply cannot promise the level of event that our community and sponsors have come to expect and love.”

The Hot Air Jubilee also announced that American 1 Credit Union will continue to be the title sponsor of our 2021 event.  American 1 Credit Union, Hammond Propane and Ella Sharp Museum have all committed to next year’s event.  Knapp added, “We will work diligently with all sponsors to make next year’s event better than ever.  We appreciate all our sponsors, volunteers, and community and are committed more than ever to continue our planning and come back strong in 2021.”
