Jackson College’s Summer Concert Series will offer great music in a new outdoor location and add some dining options!

Summer outdoor concerts, historically the Front Porch Concert Series, will shift to include the Potter Center’s “back porch” – the patio outside the Dining Commons — while work is planned to the area out front.  The concert series will kick off June 13 with a Jazz Picnic with River Jazz and theJazzy Jets, at 6 p.m. on the back porch patio of Potter Center. In addition to music from these local jazz musicians, audience members may purchase hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixings! Enjoy the atmosphere of the Potter Center’s beautiful back porch, complete with tables and chairs for audience members’ dining and listening convenience.

Celebrate Father’s Day June 16 with the Trombonefest and cookout at 6 p.m. on the back porch.  Leave the food preparation to us; burgers, hot dogs, salads and drinks will be available for purchase. Enjoy this one-of-a-kind musical event!

On June 18, the Jackson Community Concert Band presents a celebration concert in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Potter Center. Enjoy traditional band literature, popular and show tunes, marches, blues and more! The concert begins at 7 p.m.

The award-winning Capital City Brass Band performs at 7 p.m. June 27 on the back porch of the Potter Center. Enjoy these fine brass musicians from the Lansing, Jackson and mid-Michigan area.

All concerts are free; food items on the first two are available for purchase. Concerts are guaranteed – they will move indoors in case of inclement weather. For questions on any of these events, contact Dan Bickel, 517.990.1314.
