(October 16, 2020 12:00 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 1,452 positive cases (cumulative), and 58 deaths (cumulative)*.    

There are 48 new cases since yesterday’s report.  This is the largest single day increase since the pandemic began.  The previous one day record was set on October 14 with 40 new cases.  There have been 192 new cases in the past week.

Rashmi Travis, Jackson County Health Officer, tells JTV News that the department is seeing increasing positive numbers.   “From what we can see so far the increase is not related to any one particular exposure.  It appears that it is general community spread,” said Travis.

The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 5:20 PM October 9, there are 1,688 confirmed positive cases at Jackson facilities and 173 confirmed positive staff cases.  MDOC positive case numbers are cumulative.

As of 11 AM October 14, there 16 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.

The Jackson County Township map and recovery data will be posted each Monday.

*These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category “Others” for the Michigan Statistics.

**Recovered is defined as the number of persons with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who are alive 30 days post-onset (or referral date if onset is not available).
