The week-long event will feature some of the most talented and renowned storytellers from across the United States, and culminate in a finale showcase performance on Nov. 5 at Weatherwax  Hall in downtown Jackson.

The week-long event begins Monday, Nov. 1, when storytellers including Larry Castleberry, La’Ron Williams, Laura Raynor, and Jenifer Strauss will share their storytelling talents both in-person and virtually with 35 area schools, for students in grades Pre-K through 12th grade.

“This year’s theme for Storyfest – Storytelling Through the Arts – captures the many fun and creative forms of storytelling, ” JDL Director Sara Tackett said, “from spoken word to song and dance. We are excited to partner with local organizations and professional storytellers to bring a unique storytelling experience to the Jackson-area community.”

On Wednesday, Nov. 3,  at 11 AM, area residents are invited to attend a free public performance by Cynthia Shelhart at the Ella Sharp Museum Community Room, located at 3225 4th Street in Jackson. Shelhart, an international authority on double-strung harp performance and pedagogy, won the U.S. National Scottish Harp Championship in 2005.

The Storyfest Showcase is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at the Jackson Symphony Orchestra’s Weatherwax Hall, located at 215 W. Michigan Ave. in downtown Jackson.
