(June 1, 2023 4:03 PM ET) The Jackson County Department of Transportation has issued an emergency closure of the Albion Road Bridge between Behling Road and French Road.

Based on a recent inspection, structural engineers have determined that the bridge must be closed immediately due to excessive and rapid deterioration of the structure. The bridge was originally built in 1929.

JCDOT engineers are in the process of exploring and evaluating cost-effective options for replacing the bridge as soon as feasibly possible.

A detour route has been posted that advises motorists to use Warner, North Concord, and King Roads to bypass the closure.

Jackson County will resurface French Road during the week of June 5th. After this resurfacing work is completed, the detour route will be revised to direct motorists to use French Road to King Road. This will reduce the detour distance from 4.3 miles to 1.6 miles.

JCDOT advises those with questions to contact the office at (517) 788-4230; visit the website (bit.ly/JCDOT), or Facebook page for further information.
