(August 5, 2020 5:44 PM) Spring Arbor University has named Jessica Dowling as the new head coach of its competitive cheer program.

A native of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Dowling spent eight years with Addison Community Schools as the middle school competitive cheerleading coach, middle school sideline cheerleading coach, and varsity competitive assistant coach. As the middle school competitive coach, she guided her squad to five straight Cascades Conference championships and three consecutive undefeated seasons.

Dowling was a four-year member of the varsity competitive cheer and sideline cheer teams at Canal Winchester High School. She helped lead her team to four state championships, three top-four finishes at the AmeriCheer national championships, and two nationals championships.

In addition to her coaching duties, Dowling is also a professor at Spring Arbor University in the School of Education. She graduated from Capital University with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and earned a Master’s in the Art of Teaching Reading from Marygrove College.
