(January 10, 2022 6:05 PM) Columbia Central High School varsity basketball player Tadassa Brown is playing a new hybrid position this winter.

It could be called point-wing-post player.

In other words, the soon-to-be Clemson University player is doing it all for the Golden Eagles. Last week against Dundee, Brown scored 15 points, pulled down 12 rebounds, dished six assists, had four blocked shots, and two steals in the Lenawee County Athletic Association win over the Vikings.

“I have always been that way (wanting to play multiple positions), but I have never been that comfortable in doing it in a game,” Brown said after the win. “Working with Michigan Crossover – an AAU team out of Detroit – I have been able to get better ball handling skills.”

Brown is the only senior on a very young squad. She takes that responsibility of being a leader very seriously.

“I try to be positive in practices because it all begins in the gym,” Brown said. “I might get after them a little bit, but I come back with something positive for them to hear.

“We are getting the job done now.”

The Golden Eagles started the season with a loss to Western, but has rattled off wins in five of the team’s last six contests.

Brown has signed a national letter to play Division 1 basketball at Clemson University next fall. She is believed to be the first Division 1 basketball signee in the school’s history.

“I have the date to leave already set and I am excited,” Brown said. “The experience (of college) itself will be great.

“I will be surrounding myself with a lot of genuine people … that is why I chose Clemson.”
