During the May 15, 2014 live broadcast of The Bart Hawley Show, host Bart Hawley received a big surprise in the form of the Region 8 Michigan Association of School Administrators (MASA) Champion of Children Award, presented by Jackson County superintendents. The award was given in appreciation of Hawley’s and JTV’s continued support of the Jackson education community.

Region 8, which represents six counties of school administration—including Jackson County, nominated and voted Hawley as this year’s recipient. Presenter and Jackson Public Schools superintendent Dan Evans acknowledged that it is a representation of their appreciation of Hawley’s dedication to “enriching the lives of the students through the work you’ve done in our community.”

“I just have the greatest respect for the education system here in the county,” Hawley said upon receiving the award. “I really appreciate the honor.”

Following the surprise presentation, the remainder of JTV’s show featured representatives from diverse educational programs, all of which Hawley has supported and featured on the show, including high school athletics, the Cradle 2 Career Network, Energizing Education, the Jackson Area Career Center, and the College and Career Access Center, with each guest thanking Bart for his dedication and positive support of Jackson County’s children and students.

The broadcast can be seen on JTV, Thursday, May 15 at 1:00 PM, 5:00 PM, 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM, 2:00 AM, and 5:00 AM—with encore presentations during the same time slots on Friday, May 16. The live stream of the episode can also be found at www.jtv.tv.
