Jason Smith, elected yesterday as Jackson’s new mayor reflected on his victory on today’s show. Smith defeated incumbent Martin Griffin 46% to 34%. 18% of Jackson’s registered voters turned out to elect Smith, pass a marijuana decriminalization proposal and return two incumbent councilpersons, Andrew Frounfelker and Dan Greer to their seats. Newcomer Arlene Robinson will be the other new face on the council, defeating incumbent Michelle Woods. Smith will take office on December 1.
