The defending champion and co-medalists are still alive in the Jackson City Golf Championship at the Country Club of Jackson.

Steve Maddalena, Mike Brockie and Henry Hitt all earned second round wins in the round of 16 played Tuesday and Wednesday.

Maddalena, the defending champion, defeated Mark Kurzynowski 6-5 in a match on Tuesday. The duo has combined to win 10 City championships over the years.

Napoleon High School junior Evan Brzyski will face Maddalena in the quarterfinals following a 2-up win over Chad Risner.

Riley Hestwood defeated Logan Anuszkiewicz 3-2 and Brett Casto won 2-up setting up a quarterfinal match on Thursday.

Co-medalist Mike Brockie defeated Bret Valkuchak 2-1. He will face Conor Spencer in the quarterfinals following a 1-up win over Cannon Risner.

Henry Hitt and Cody Lysher will face off on Thursday in the final quarterfinal match. Hitt, a co-medalist in qualifying, defeated Mike Boldt 2-up and Lysher defeated Matt Farhat 3-1.

Quarterfinal matches will be played on Thursday, semifinals are on Friday and the 36-hole final is Saturday at the Country Club of Jackson.

The match-play City Championship dates back to 1926.
