(April 10, 2020 3:21 PM)  Michigan reported 1,279 coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 22,783.

The State of Michigan is reporting 205 COVID-19-related deaths today, bringing the state total to 1,281.

The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12 PM today, there are 139 positive cases (cumulative), and 4 deaths (cumulative). (Note:  Today’s state report records 140 positive cases in Jackson County).

Henry Ford Allegiance Health reports that as of 11 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 45 individuals being treated in their acute care hospital have tested positive for COVID-19; an additional nine inpatient individuals have pending test results. To date, a total of 14 positive COVID-19 HFAH inpatients have been treated and discharged.

Beginning today, April 10, 2020, MDHHS staff will review death certificate data maintained in Vital Records reporting systems, weekly. Records that identify COVID-19 infection as a contributing factor to death are compared against all laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). If a death certificate is matched to a confirmed COVID-19 case, the MDSS record is updated to indicate the death and the appropriate local health department is notified. These matched deaths will be included with mortality information posted to the Michigan Coronavirus website. Today’s data includes 30 additional deaths identified through this methodology.

This information is updated daily at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m..

Cumulative Total of Recovered COVID-19 Cases (as of 4/3/2020): 56*
*During this response, MDHHS is reviewing vital records statistics to identify any laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases who are 30 days out from their onset of illness to represent recovery status. As the pandemic continues to impact Michigan, this pool will expand to include more cases. Recovered is defined as the number of persons with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who are alive 30 days post-onset (or referral date if onset is not available).  The number of persons recovered on April 3rd, 2020 represents COVID-19 confirmed individuals with an onset date on or prior to March 4th, 2020. These numbers will be updated every Saturday.
