(May 3, 2020 9:32 AM) The Cascades Cycling Club has announced the cancelation of the 2020 Pedal & Whine Bike Tour, scheduled for August 1st at Sandhill Crane Vineyards.  Club President Mike Woizeschke said the club’s concern for health and safety led to the board’s decision to cancel this year’s event.

Woizeschke said the Club was following the direction of the League of Michigan Bicyclists (LMB) which this past week announced the cancelation of all summer rides.  LMB sponsors several major rides, including HUB Fest, Sunrise Adventure, MUP, and Shoreline West.

The Ann Arbor Bicycling Touring Society announced the cancelation of One Helluva Ride, originally scheduled for July 11 at the Chelsea Fairgrounds.

Organizers of the annual DALMAC ride, scheduled for September 1-6 have said no decision has been made yet regarding this year’s, the 50th annual, ride.  Steven Leiby, DALMAC Director, said, “We are hopeful at this time that we’ll be able to proceed as normal, but we will continue monitoring the situation and communicate any changes to DALMAC 2020. Rider safety is our number one priority.  August 1st is our go/no go date. If it is not clear by August 1st that we can safely hold DALMAC, it will be canceled.”

Refunds will be issued to each rider who has already registered for this year’s Pedal & Wine Tour.  Woizeschke said registered riders will be contacted regarding how and when refunds will be made.
