(5-10-2024, 10:25 PM): 17 schools (including 8 from Jackson County) performed at the annual “The Dome” track and field classic at East Jackson High School on Friday afternoon.

A few of many stars running or participating at “The Dome” includes Napoleon senior DeVonta Habern. Habern recently broke the Napoleon school record in high jump with a 6-7. The previous record was also made by Habern with a 6-6.

Habern’s collegiate plans after high school include playing both basketball and track and field with options down to two schools. “I’ve been happy with the success I’ve had and the team this year. Hopefully we can grab another conference title. Felt great to break the school record again at 6-7, looking to get to either a 6-9 or 6-10 during regionals and state meets.” He took home first place in high jump today with a 6-4 (a new meet record).

The Pirates came into Friday leading the pack in the Cascades-East with the postseason on the horizon along with the James R. Selby T&F Classic on Tuesday May 28th.
