The 2021 Summer Youth Program, presented by Consumers Energy, in collaboration with Jackson College and Michigan Works! Southeast is searching for high school students interested in careers in the energy industry.

Six-week program beginning June 21

-Monday through Thursday

-for each week accepted participants will earn a stipend for participation and will learn about energy careers and essential skills. 

– Participants will also have an opportunity to tour a number of Consumers sites throughout the program.

There are about 10 spots available for high school students.  Interested students should complete an online application:


The Summer Youth Programs’ goal is to offer you a wide variety of opportunities to experience high-caliber material and tours pertaining to the energy industry.  This program will build upon your existing knowledge and interest through face-to-face and online instruction with energy experts.  

The continuation of the EIF coursework will consist of 5 topics: 

Topic #1 – What is “Energy”?

Topic #2 – Electromagnetism and Motors

Topic #3 – Circuits and Ohm’s Law

Topic #4 – Alternative Energy

Topic #5 – Energy Distribution

Participants will receive an hourly rate of $13.00 per hour for attendance and completion of this program.
