(June 28, 2021 9:44 PM) Jackson County golfers Sydnie Redovich and Justin Bunch won Jackson County Junior Open golf titles on Monday at Cascades Golf Course.
The County Junior Open has combined with the R.W. Mercer Jackson Junior Golf Tour for a one-day medal tournament at Cascades.
Nearly 100 golfers competed in the tournament.
Bunch shot a 2-under-par 70 to edge Cannon Risner by one shot in the boys’ 17-18 age category. Hanover-Horton graduate Kyler Rod shot a 75, Evan Brzyski shot a 78, and Ethan Johnson and Ben Maino carded 81s.
Jackson High golfer Colin Norton won the boys’ 15-16 grouping with a 76. Ryder Pickering shot an 83, Zachary Johnson finished with an 84, and Brady Applegate shot 86.
Tate Johnson won the boys’ 10-under contest with a 50, and Sam Swihart won the boys’ 11-13 nine-hole event with a 42, Leo Nguyen shot a 47, Soren Crosthwaite finished with a 48, and Andrew Boldt carded a 49.
Charlie Saunders won the boys’ 13-14 event for 18 holes with an 84, and Nate Arntz, Jake Brafford, Jacob England, and J.J. Miller each shot 95s.
Sydnie Redovich won the girls’ County Open title with an 80 for 18 holes. Logan Bentley tied for second with Sydney Cramer, and Natalie Kulka with 85s, Olivia Ohmer shot an 88, Baylee Carlisle finished with a 90, and Alexa Spencer shot a 98.
Olivia Rhodes won the girls’ 12-under nine-hole event with a 52, Maggie Loomis won the girls’ 13-up nine-hole event with a 65, and Jacey Merkle won the girls’ 13-15 age category 18-hole event with a 94. Camryn Boldt was second in that group with 114, Marrisa Berro shot 118, Anna McCubbins shot 120.
The Mercer Tour will continue after the July 4th holiday with a two-person best ball event at Lakeland Hills Golf Course on Friday, July 9.
