The Jackson County Rose Festival is inviting the community to attend the 58th Annual Jackson County Rose Parade and Picnic in the Park on Sunday June 5th, 2016 at 1:00pm. The Picnic in the Park will commence immediately after the parade.   The parade route will begin on South Jackson and Mason St. (near Austin Park) and end at the Picnic in the Park inside Ella Sharp Park. This year’s parade theme is “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”.

Part of the Jackson County Rose Parade tradition is selecting a Grand Marshal. Individuals nominated for Grand Marshal are residents who have given back to the Jackson Community through service to their city, county, state or country. There are so many Jackson residents who make a difference for this community, and it is important that our citizens have a voice in the selection of the Grand Marshal. Nominations for Grand Marshal are being accepted and can be submitted on the Rose Festival website (http://jacksonrosefestival.org/parade/). Then find the Grand Marshal nomination icon on your right, enter your Grand Marshal candidate’s information and click submit.

Are you a runner or enjoy walking for fun? Then you need to participate in the second annual 5K Fun Run-Walk that will take place before the Rose Parade starting at 10:00 am at Austin Blair Memorial Park. http://jacksonrosefestival.org/parade/fun-run/

Have a great idea for a parade entry? There is no fee to enter.  The festival would like to have more than 100 entries this year, so get your creative minds together and enter a float for this year’s Everything’s Coming Up Roses theme! The more entries, the better! Trophies will be awarded to float entries for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place as well as an honorable mention. All types of entries are welcome, forms and information may be obtained on the website (http://jacksonrosefestival.org/parade/).

The Picnic in the Park will take place immediately following the Rose Parade at Ella Sharp Park. Festivities include a BBQ Chicken Dinner, Dunk Tank, Petting Zoo, Kids Area with free face painting, a coloring tent, various food concessions, a NCCC Sanctioned Corvette Show; John Louis Good & the Rose City Troubadours, Touch a Truck, and the Fire Truck Pull. Teams of 10 can enter the Fire Truck Pull for a $100 registration fee at the website (http://jacksonrosefestival.org/picnic-in-the-park/ ).
