I grew up here in Jackson, and I can attest, this love is well deserved. This is a restaurant that has so much love for what comes out of the kitchen, we want to love the kitchen back. Virginia Coney opened in 1914 and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its famous coney dog is made up of their coney sauce, onions and mustard. It costs just $1.50. It’s thought that Greek immigrants popularized the dish. Detroit-style Coneys use a meaty chili sauce, while Jackson-style Coneys feature a dryer loose meat sauce, often called Coney sauce rather than chili. Jackson is the birthplace of the Coney Island Hot Dog. "I eat 'em every day," said Tommy Boadgieff to JTV in 2015. Boadgieff owned Tommy's Hot Dogs.
