(January 21, 2021 5:38 PM) Today, Jackson College announced Campus View 4 tiny homes, a living and learning community, will open in March 2021. These new residences are designed to welcomes students with families to live on Jackson College’s Central Campus.

Tiny homes will feature holistic student support to help parents change their lives while achieving a college associate degree. Four of six tiny homes arrived on campus in November 2020, with two more Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant homes to be delivered soon. The first four homes are ready for move-in, while the remaining two will need site and utility work to be ready for occupants.

Unique among community colleges, the College has offered student housing for traditional-aged single students since 2007. Tiny homes allow even more students to live on campus and succeed in their education.

Campus View 4 will be open to:

  • Single students with dependent children;
  • Legally married students with dependent children;
  • Domestic partners with dependent children.

To qualify, students should be enrolled full-time in the fall, winter and spring semesters. Housing contracts will be 12-month terms, in order to encourage completion of an associate degree and provide stable housing for families. The maximum capacity is five persons; ADA compliant homes can house three persons. Students must participate in tutoring and success coaching in addition to classes.

Students should apply on the website, https://www.jccmi.edu/campus-view-student-housing/family-housing/. Housing will be available for the College’s second seven-week term of the winter semester, which starts March 15.
