Thursday, November 30th (9:30PM):

Two teams that are favorites to win their respective conferences squared off on Thursday night at Michigan Center High School, and it eventually turned into all-Onsted.

After a three-pointer by Hunter Clemons to open up the game for the MC Cardinals, Onsted began their success on offense early. The Wildcats went on a 9-2 run and forced the Cardinals to six straight empty possessions during the run.

Both teams traded buckets soon after. 3-pointers from Hunter Clemons and Rylan Henagan for Onsted made it a 15-13 wildcats lead after the opening quarter. Onsted’s star and Wright State University commit, Ayden Davis (the brother of former Onsted HS star and University of Michigan player Austin Davis) scored seven first quarter points.

The second quarter turned a page for Onsted, as they began to roll on offense. After a quick five points by Hadyn Hinkle for the Cardinals, Davis and Henagan went to work. Henagan heated up from the 3-point line, knocking down three of them in the second quarter. The cardinals struggled on offense from there on, going the last four minutes of the first half without a bucket. Onsted led 33-22 at the break with 14 points each from Davis and Henagan.

Onsted opened the second half with the first 14 points of the action, five different Wildcats contributed to the scoring run as they outscored Michigan Center 26-13 in the third.

Michigan Center was outscored 14-4 in the final quarter and fell 73-39 on Thursday night at home. The Cardinals were led by Hunter Clemons with 11 points and 8 points were added by both Hadyn Hinkle and Jayden Watson. Rylan Henagan scored 23 for Onsted and Ayden Davis added 21.

Michigan Center falls to 0-1 and will play at Brighton Cheryl Stockwell Prep, tomorrow (Friday 12/1) at 7pm. Onsted improves to 2-0 and will host Stockbridge next on 12/5.
