Lloyd Ganton Car Show 10th Anniversary

The Lloyd Ganton Roadside Classic Car Show celebrates its tenth year this Sunday, July 28th at 2100 Springport Road from noon to 3:30pm.  Lloyd Ganton and Rick Klibenski, event organizers are presenting this free event, with prizes, entertainment and a hot dog lunch.  All donations received during the event will benefit the Alzheimer's Association.  Other guests:  64th District State Representative Earl Poleski;  Larry Shaffer and Mark Stanton, EcoBlaster;  Grass Lake Traffic Jam-In' preview with Joe DeBoe, Rick Mead and Jennifer Keener;  Consumers Energy's Tour de Cafe Relay for Life fundraiser winners Dale Lundberg, PJ Harworth, Steve Walke and Ryan Sistek.

American 1 Teen Idol Highlights on The Jackson Show

American 1 Teen Idol provides young singers with an opportunity to showcase their talents and raise money for the Jackson School of the Arts (www.jacksonarts.org) and one other non-profit to be named by the event’s overall winner.  The top ten contestants performed on Friday, July 12 at 6pm at the Grandstands at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.  Enjoy some amazing talent from Jackson and all over the State!

New Music Camp Enrolling Students

Staff from the first annual JaxJam Music Camp, Victor McDermott and Mahalia Greenway, invited viewers to enroll their 3rd thru 8th graders at the upcoming 3 day camp experience to be held at Westwinds Community Church.   The camp runs from July 29 thru 31 and openings are still available at jaxjam.org.  Other guests:  Dahlem Conservancy Executive Director Rod Malloy;  Executive Director Connie Poisson and board member Jack Jordan from Junior Achievement;  Movies with Dave DeBaker;  Quiet World Sports kayaking lessons from Kat Kulchinski with Bart and Ric Walton.

Lumen Christi Upgrading Athletic Facilities

New Economic Development Director Introduced

City of Jackson Manager Patrick Burtch introduced Jonathan Greene as the city's new Economic Development Director.  Greene has previously served as Executive Director of Jackson's Downtown Development Authority and will continue in that role.  Other guests:  Michigan Waterskiing Hall of Fame member Tony Krupa;  Hot Air Jubilee Vice-Chair Andy Merritt;   Elaine Crosby, LPGA Legends golfer and host of the Wendy's Charity Golf Classic;  Toys of the Month with Phil Wrzesinki from the Toy House;  Pet of the Week with Kathy Brafford, Cascades Humane Society.

Smart Commute Event Friday

The next event for the Fitness Council of Jackson's Smart Commute series is this Friday:  the Group Ride on the Falling Waters Trail.  The ride starts with a coffee social at the Concord Cafe at 7am, followed by a group bicycle ride on the Falling Waters Trail to downtown Jackson.  Executive Director Scott TenBrink and board member Kat Kulchinski encouraged participation and directed those interested to sign up online.  Other guests:  Jackson Public Schools Superintendent Dan Evans with Middle School at Parkside's new Principal Kelly Pennington;  United Way's Jim Brian with Kelsey Haynes, Jackson County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition Coordinator;  Michigan DNR State Park Managers Gary Jones and Jim O'Brien;  John Thompson and Darcy Clark, Western Athletic Boosters;  Big Brothers/Big Sisters Match of the Month with Cynthia Schultz and her little, Alexis.

Habitat for Humanity Schedules Gala
