Great Clips 250 Benefiting Paralyzed Veterans of America set for June 13 at MIS

BROOKLYN, Mich. (May 29, 2015) — Michigan International Speedway is proud to announce a partnership with Great Clips and Paralyzed Veterans of America to sponsor the June 13 NASCAR XFINITY Series race at the track, the Great Clips 250 Benefiting Paralyzed Veterans of America. This innovative partnership continues beyond race weekend. From July 1 through August 8, Great Clips patrons throughout Michigan, Northern Ohio and Northern Indiana will receive a $2 coupon toward a haircut with every $4 donated to Paralyzed Veterans of America. Patrons receive $1 voucher for a haircut with every $2 donation to Paralyzed Veterans of America. While Great Clips has had a presence in NASCAR for years, this marks the first time the organization has sponsored a race at NASCAR’s fastest track. Northwest Schools Construction Project Update

Northwest Schools Superintendent Geoff Bontrager updated viewers on the construction projects underway in the district.  Northwest's new elementary school will be ready for fall 2015 occupancy.  Following conclusion of the current  school year next week, Parnall Elementary School will be demolished.  Over the summer, the middle school and high school offices will temporarily relocate to the administration building while new entrances are constructed at all schools.

Seven Spring Arbor Softball players named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Seven Spring Arbor University softball players were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the 2015 season, the national office announced on Wednesday (May 27). Beka Bentz, Lauren Brenner, Kasidy Coats, Bekah Guy, Alika Kingsbury, Kaitlyn Sinclair and Amanda Youngheim and were among the 402 softball student-athletes to receive the NAIA’s highest academic honor. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
