BROOKLYN, Mich. (Oct. 20, 2015) — Michigan International Speedway officials are proud to partner with FireKeepers Casino, another Michigan-based company, to bring fans the FireKeepers Casino 400 on June 12. FireKeepers Casino sponsored Pole Day for both NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at MIS in 2015. Company representatives saw first-hand how well their brand fit with NASCAR fans so it was only natural to increase its involvement in the series. “FireKeepers Casino Hotel green-lights sponsorship at Michigan International Speedway for the FireKeepers Casino 400,” stated Homer A. Mandoka, Tribal Council Chairman of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi. “We are grooved to bring the fans the best experience with the horsepower of NASCAR.” FireKeepers Casino has found all its guests want an authentic experience and there’s camaraderie among casino-goers. Last year they discovered NASCAR has that, too, as NASCAR fans share a very similar attribute – they all want to be a part of something big. “We are pleased to continue our partnership with FireKeepers Casino and its increased involvement with NASCAR for the FireKeepers Casino 400 in June,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “The key to successful partnerships is finding organizations which have similar goals. ALBION, MI - Albion College senior running back Colin Parks gashed Adrian College for 102 yards last Saturday, and he was rewarded by being named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s Offensive Player of the Week. It is the first time the senior from Southfield (who prepped at Lathrup High School) has ever gained the MIAA Player of the Week award. Parks averaged nearly seven yards per carry against the league’s second-best team against the run. Parks scored on runs of 2 and 20 yards in the first half, giving him 11 rushing touchdowns on the season, a figure that ranks seventh in NCAA Division III. “Anytime you rush for more than 100 yards against Adrian you are doing a good job,” Albion Head Coach Craig Rundle said. “He gets the tough yards and does a great job on pass protection.” Parks has rushed for 715 yards through six games this season. His 7.2-yard average is 17th-best among Division III running backs. Albion, 6-0 overall and 3-0 against MIAA rivals, is preparing for a home date against Trine University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Saturday on the Schmidt-Fraser Field inside Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.
