Karen Richard Named “Person of Achievement”

Karen Richard has been selected by Jackson Business and Professional Women as the 2015 Person of Achievement. She received the award and honor at the Business and Professional Women/Michigan at the annual fall state board meeting, held at the Holiday Inn Gateway Center in Flint, MI, on Saturday, October 17, 2015.  She is a Jackson BPW member.  In 2013, she was honored by the Jackson BPW as the recipient of the NIKE award, an award given to a woman owned business in the area. Karen owns the Jackson Culver's Restaurant and a Culver's in Ann Arbor.  She is on the board of the Intermediate School District (ISD) Culinary Department. She has been a member of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce for nine years and is currently on the Board and the Executive Board of the Chamber. She has been a member of the Jackson Chamber MLK Diversity Committee and an active participant in the Middle School Challenge Day project.  She has served on the American Red Cross Board of Directors and is an active sponsor of the Jackson Junior Golf Association and the 100 Women Who Care. Western football team rolls past Northwest, can clinch playoff spot against Dexter  By Mike Moore JTV Sports Writer  Jackson - One win away. A program that’s suffered through a postseason drought since its inception, the Western football team is now that close to breathing the rare air of the playoffs. One win away. “We knew Northwest would give us their best effort, and they played us very tough,” Western coach Dave Mifsud said after his guys beat the Mounties 45-20 Friday night to improve to 5-3 on the season. “Give them a lot of credit, they probably played the best they have in the past three or four games. Our focus was to get past this one. We got the win. We’re one step closer to our goal.” Northwest played like a team with nothing to lose, and started the game with a bang, recovering an onside kick. But shortly after, Steele Fortress picked off a Ryan Crowley pass and Western took over at its own 37-yard line.
