Consistency the key for Jackson football in tonight’s battle with Zeeland East

By Mike Moore                                                  File Photo by Ryan Kerwin, JTV Sports Staff Writer   Jackson — Of all the Week 1 craziness across the state in high school football, few games could have had the intrigue and drama as Jackson High’s did.   Up by 28.   Tied at 28.   A near touchdown waved off.   An overtime touchdown for the lead.   An overtime touchdown for the loss.   That’s the quick version of the Vikings’ 35-34 overtime loss last weekend to Marshall, a loss the guys in orange and black have to get past quickly entering tonight’s battle with Zeeland East.   “This is a very resilient group of kids,” coach Scott Farley said. “They came back and had a great week of practice. A Chilly Start for the Holiday Weekend

A large Canadian Polar high pressure system is moving over Michigan today and will be east of this area by Saturday. That surface high will effectively block the remnants of Harvey from reaching this area. Being on the west side of the departing high and north of the remnants of Harvey on Saturday will  mean more clouds but no rain.  Another Canadian Cold Front will bring the risk of showers and thunderstorms on Labor Day. The southerly flow ahead of the cold front will bring a surge of warm air allowing highs to reach the lower to mid 80s. Behind the front expect much cooler weather for mid week. Today:  Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 60s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Tonight:  Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 40s. Northeast winds around 10 mph. Saturday:  Mostly sunny until midday then becoming partly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Saturday Night:  Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s. South winds around 5 mph becoming west overnight. Sunday:  Sunny. Highs in the upper 70s. West winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 25 mph. Sunday Night:  Mostly clear. Lows in the upper…
