MDOT Posts Statewide 2018 Construction Map
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has posted the 2018 Paving the Way state construction map online for motorists to download.The public is encouraged to download the map and print it at home or at their nearest library or print service provider. The map is available at www.michigan.gov/mdotmaps, and will also be on display in all rest areas and Welcome Centers across the state in the coming weeks. Among the Jackson area projects on the map and schedule: I-94: June 2018-Dec 2019. Repair pavement between M-60 and Sargent Rd; replace bridges at Cooper St and over the Grand River. 2 lanes open in each direction during daytime. 1 lane closed at off-peak times. M-106: June 2018. Resurface from Porter St to Ganson Street. Flag control. M-60: May-June. Resurface 3.4 miles from I-94 to Renfrew Dr. 1 lane will be open in each direction. M-50/US-127 BR (Cooper Street) April-June. Repair pavement 1.6 miles from Washington Avenue to South Street. 1 lane will be open in each direction. Jackson College Winter Film Series. Explore filmmaking and enjoy movies from classic to contemporary with Jackson College’s 42nd Annual Winter Film Series. The Winter Film Series is held annually at the Michigan Theatre in downtown Jackson as part of the College’s English 210 Films as Literature class. Community members are welcome. Films begin at 7:15 p.m. on Mondays; cost $5 per person. Tonight: “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”. Last night, the film won Oscars for Frances McDormand for best actress and Sam Rockwell for best supporting actor. The Bohm Theatre’s third year anniversary of “Blues at the Bohm” will be celebrated tonight from 7 PM to 10 PM at the Bohm Theatre in Albion. Hosting the anniversary performance will be the Chris Canas Band. Admission is $10. Food will be available from Gina’s Pizza and Deli for purchase and the concession stand will be open. Center Stage Jackson will be holding auditions for “The Drowsy Chaperone” tonight and Tuesday from 6:30 PM to 9 PM at Jackson’s First Presbyterian Church, 743 West Michigan Avenue. BPW Presents Nike Award to Judi Ganton

The Nike Award was presented at a recent Jackson Chamber of Commerce Economic Luncheon at Ella Sharp Museum. Judi has been a member of the Jackson BPW for over 20 years and has a real passion for helping this community. Judi and Lloyd own Lloyd Ganton Retirement Centers and are personally involved in every one of their senior housing centers. The Gantons are dedicated to providing safe, compassionate care for seniors, while helping them to maintain their dignity and independence. “Quality is our Family Tradition” is the company motto and Judi Ganton says the company will always strive for the best. The Nike award is given to women of excellence who deserve to be recognized, specifically those in business locally and making an impact in their community by giving back and volunteering.
