Spring Arbor Soccer Down to Finals in National Tournament
Jackson, Michigan-- Spring Arbor Women’s Soccer has advanced to the NAIA Semifinals after their 2-1 win over Benedictine College. The Kansas school was No. 9 ranked in the country, and had an overall record of 20-1-2 on the season. The contest was a rematch of last season’s national championship- which SAU won. Spring Arbor will play Keiser University of Florida in the national tournament semifinals. The Cougars now stand at 20-1-1 on the season. Spring Arbor was outshot for just the third time this season, 17-15. Despite being outshot, they recorded five corner kicks to the Ravens’ one. This is the fourth straight year Spring Arbor University has punched its ticket to the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Semifinals. They’ll have had a two day break when they play again on Friday, after winning on Wednesday at the Orange Beach SportsPlex. Benedictine’s goal broke a streak of three straight shutouts for SAU. It was just the seventh goal allowed by the Cougars all season – the fewest in the NAIA this year. Spring Arbor has recorded 16 shutouts on the season– the most in the country. The Walton Annual Holiday Walk Thru will be held on Thursday, November 29th, from 4 – 7 PM. This has been an annual event at Walton Insurance Group since 2003. The event started as Ric Walton’s vision for helping and caring for the less fortunate kids in the Jackson Area. It started a spark under the employees; and has grown to an average of 600 children, plus, parents, grandparents and friends coming through the Winter Wonderland. Children are greeted by members of our team dressed in characters they are very familiar with, such as Spiderman, Shrek, Cat-In-The-Hat, Ernie, Grinch, Disney Princesses, many elves, and of course Santa and Mrs. Claus. The office is decorated in traditional Christmas themes and the children enjoy hot cocoa, movies, Christmas cookies, reindeer and a toy at the end of their tour. All a vision Ric Walton had no idea would help as many children as it does in this community. The holidays are a special time of the year for the staff of the Walton Insurance Group and we’re excited to share the season with you! *donations will gladly be accepted to help support the Walton Insurance Group charity fund* Walton Insurance Group, 2929…
