The Impact of COVID-19 on Non-profit Organizations

(April 27, 2020 3:56 PM) During these difficult and challenging times when all of us are focusing on the amazing work being done by our health care providers, our first responders, our police and fire, our food pantries and shelters, and all of our other essential services, we often fail to think about the other non-profit organizations in our community that have been shuttered temporarily but continue to need our ongoing support. Although certainly not exclusive, my focus has always been on the impactful arts and children’s organizations in our community and surrounding areas including but not limited to the Michigan Theatre of Jackson, the Jackson School of the Arts, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, the Jackson YMCA, the Ella Sharp Museum and the Purple Rose Theatre Company. Regretfully, all of these organizations, like many other businesses in our community, have been forced to close their doors as a result of the Covid-19 virus. Michigan Reports 432 Coronavirus Cases Today, State Total Now 38,210

(April 27, 2020 3:13 PM)  Michigan reported 432 coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 38,210. The State of Michigan is reporting 92 COVID-19-related deaths today, bringing the state total to 3,407. State Cumulative Total of Recovered COVID-19 Cases (as of 4/24/2020): 8,342.  This number is updated weekly. Jackson County Daily Report: 337 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 18 Deaths

(April 27, 2020 12:06 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12 PM today, there are 337 positive cases (cumulative), and 18 deaths (cumulative)*. The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of Sunday night, there are 335 Confirmed Positive Cases at Jackson Facilities, 106 Confirmed Positive Jackson Staff. As of 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, there are 40 individuals with positive COVID-19 results who are inpatients at Henry Ford Allegiance Health. An additional two persons under investigation are hospitalized at HFAH. To date, a total of 78 positive COVID-19 HFAH inpatients have been treated and discharged. *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category “MDOC” for the Michigan Statistics.
