MDOC: 1,584 Confirmed Positive Cases at Jackson Facilities, 156 Confirmed Positive Jackson Staff

(June 22, 2020 6:34 AM) The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 12:30 PM Sunday, June 21, there are 3,991 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases at facilities throughout the state.  Of that statewide total, 1,584 of the confirmed positive cases are at Jackson facilities. In Jackson, there are 505 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases at Parnall Correctional Facility, 297 at Charles E. Egeler Reception and Guidance Center, 69 at Duane Waters Health Center and 713 at G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility.  Among staff, there are a total of 375 COVID-19 positive cases statewide.   In Jackson, there are 74 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases among employees at Parnall Correctional Facility, 2 at Cooper Street Correctional Facility, 37 at Charles E. Egeler Reception and Guidance Center, 40 at G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility and 3 at Jackson Regional Warehouse. There have been a total of 68 deaths (statewide) of prisoners who had tested positive for COVID-19, 22 of those deaths were among prisoners at Jackson facilities.  The most recent death, reported on June 2, was of a prisoner who had originally been housed at G. Explore The Trail System in Jackson.  Trails walking, hiking and biking are only a few of the ways you can make use of Jackson’s abundance of trails. Jackson’s trails give you a hundred great excuses to get out and experience nature in its purest form.  Falling Waters Trail, an integral part of the statewide proposed Iron-Belle and Great Lake to Lake Trails. Placed where Michigan Central Railroad once stood, the Falling Waters Trail is a 10.6-mile linear park connecting the Village of Concord to the City of Jackson.  Next, the Falling Waters Trail continues for 3.4 miles as the Martin Luther King Equality Trail, formerly the Inter-City Trail, from Jackson’s Weatherwax Drive to Morrell Street. And finally, the Grand River Arts Walk leads walkers, joggers and cyclists from Downtown Jackson through the Arts District and onto Monroe Street. Waterloo Recreation Area, the largest state park in the lower peninsula, contains enough trails to last a lifetime. 47 miles of hiking trails,12 miles of interpretive nature trails, and another 12 miles of equestrian trails are all nestled within 20,000 acres of protected forest. The MacCready Reserve, south of town, includes 6.5 miles of dog-friendly trails among 400 acres of lush forest environment.…

Michigan Reports 146 Coronavirus Cases Today, State Total Now 61,230

(June 21, 2020 3:26 PM) Michigan reported 146 coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 61,230. The State of Michigan is reporting 3 COVID-19-related deaths today, bringing the state total to 5,846. State Cumulative Total of Recovered COVID-19 Cases (as of 6/19/2020): 49,290.  This information is updated daily at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m.

Jackson County Cumulative Report: 468 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 29 Deaths

(June 21, 2020 3:20 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12 PM today, there are 468 positive cases (cumulative), and 29 deaths (cumulative)*.     There is no change from yesterday’s report. Cumulative recovered** patients (cumulative): 400 (updated weekly, as of June 19). The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 4:15 PM Thursday, June 18, there are 1,575 confirmed positive cases are at Jackson facilities, 160 Confirmed Positive Jackson staff. As of 3 PM on Wednesday, June 17, there are 3 individual with positive COVID-19 results who are inpatients at Henry Ford Allegiance Health.  *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category "Others" for the Michigan Statistics. **Recovered is defined as the number of persons with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who are alive 30 days post-onset (or referral date if onset is not available). Jackson County Fair Drive Thru Fair Food Rally Continues Sunday

By Jeff Steers JTV News Vendors from as far away as Breckenridge came to the former Jackson County Fairgrounds - James J. Keeley Park - to sell their products. The 10 vendors were not disappointed. A number of vendors said they were busy all day on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. for the Jackson County Fair Drive Thru Fair Food Rally. The event started Friday night and continues through Sunday. The event featured favorites as elephant ears, Fiske fries, Junkyard Dog products, and fresh lemonade. Stu’s Classic Food from Breckenridge was at the event selling their Polish and Italian sausage and Philly steak with cheese sandwiches. “We have been busy all day,” a representative said in between talking to customers who cruised through the setup. Customers were able to stay in his/her car and order as they went through the food loop. Moviegoers were also able to walk up and order items. By Jeff Steers JTV Sports A group posting rounds of 76 during the Lyle Ambs Memorial Golf Tournament qualifying were waiting for the last group to come in at Ella Sharp Park Golf Course on Saturday. The group was worried their scores could not be good enough to be in the championship flight. Three college golfers took the final three spots and 76 was bounced to the first flight. It took a score of 75 to qualify for the Lyle Ambs championship flight on Saturday. Match play will begin next Saturday with 36 holes scheduled each day. A total of 34 golfers participated in the qualifying round. Sixteen made the championship flight, 14 are expected to be in the first flight, and four in the second flight. Riley Hestwood (64), Logan Anuszkiewicz (66) and Conor Spencer (71) dashed all hopes, taking the three spots in the championship field. Hestwood – a junior-to-be at Aquinas College – earned medalist honors with a 6-under 64 to continue his hot…
