Michigan Reports 3,623 Coronavirus Cases Today, State Total Now 837,514

(April 29, 2021 4:04 PM) Michigan reported 3,623 coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 837,514. Michigan is reporting 109* COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 17,576.  *The deaths announced today includes 78 deaths identified during a Vital Records review. See cumulative data page for more information. State Cumulative Total of Recovered COVID-19 Cases (as of 4/24/21): 626,254. This information is updated Monday through Saturday at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m.  Monday reports include Sunday data.

Jackson County Cumulative Report: 13,803 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 252 Deaths

(April 29, 2021 12:00 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 13,803 positive cases (cumulative), and 252 deaths (cumulative)*.     There are 59 new cases and 2 new deaths since yesterday’s report.   Cumulative recovered, as of April 28: 10,824** As of April 28, there are 44 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.   The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 6:30 PM April 23, there are 5,302 confirmed positive cases at Jackson facilities and 669 confirmed positive staff cases.  MDOC positive case numbers are cumulative. Note:  Jackson County will post COVID-19 data daily by mid-afternoon, Monday-Saturday, keeping with the schedule established by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). Governor Whitmer Unveils Plan to Get “MI Vacc to Normal”

(April 29, 2021 9:49 AM) Governor Gretchen Whitmer today set the state of Michigan on a pathway to return to normal by unveiling the ‘MI Vacc to Normal’ plan as the state continues to push toward its goal of vaccinating 70% of Michiganders ages 16 years or older. To facilitate this goal, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) will base future epidemic order actions on four vaccination-based milestones that, once achieved, will enable Michigan to take a step toward normalcy. “The MI Vacc to Normal challenge outlines steps we can take to emerge from this pandemic as we hit our vaccination targets together,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “On our path to vaccinating 70% of Michiganders 16 and up, we can take steps to gradually get back to normal while keeping people safe. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to rise to the challenge and be a part of the solution so we can continue our economic recovery and have the summer we all crave.” Since Governor Whitmer asked Michiganders to double down on smart public health policies on April 9, Michigan has made significant progress to slow the spread of COVID-19 and save lives. Baseball Addison 8, Michigan Center 2: Barrett Roe struck out seven batters on the mound for the Cardinals.  Napoleon 13, East Jackson 2: Grant Bradley had two hits and knocked in three runs for the Pirates. Trae Lammon struck out two batters for the Trojans.  Grass Lake 12, VCL 6  Tecumseh 9, Jackson 3: Nathan Hobbs struck out five batters for Jackson.  Softball Michigan Center 11, Addison 8 Napoleon 15, East Jackson 0: Raye Burke pitched a four-inning no-hitter and struck out seven batters for Napoleon. Becca Daoust recorded four hits and Elisse Omey knocked in three runs for Napoleon.  Grass Lake 7, Vandercook 1: Makayla Miller recorded three hits for Grass Lake. Morgan LeFaive pitched seven innings for the Jayhawks.  Track and field Quincy, Jackson Prep at Concord: Concord High School won all but two events in the boys’ contest. No team scores were recorded.
