Jackson County Cumulative Report: 15,723 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 296 Deaths

(August 30, 2021 12:00 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 11:00 PM today, there are 15,723 positive cases (cumulative), and 296 deaths (cumulative)*.     There are 47 new cases since Friday’s report. As of August 30, there are 19 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.  Cumulative recovered, as of August 30: 14,685** The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category and reported by the state at Michigan Statistics. Red Cross Blood Drive.  Wildfires, record-breaking heat, and a busy hurricane season can impact the nation’s blood supply. On top of the toll extreme weather events take on the lives of millions, disasters can cause blood drive closures or prevent donors from being able to give safely. Extreme Dodge Jackson County Scoreboard for August 28, 2021

Volleyball Western Quad: Grass Lake High School lost to Western and Chelsea in three sets. The Warriors were defeated by Western 25-19, 22-25, and 25-15. They defeated Ida 26-24 and 25-21 to end the day 4-4. Abby Buttigieg finished with 39 digs, Mia Buttigieg finished with 19 digs, Olivia Turner finished with 12 kills, and Catherine Cottle finished with 40 assists.  Western went 3-0 on the day with two other wins against Ida and Chelsea. Lael Falde finished with 12 kills and four blocks, Lilli Luma scored  18 kills, Kayda Herrick tallied 13 kills, Brynn Rogers created 63 assists, and Hillary Griffin finished with 24 kills for Western (4-0).  Blissfield Quad: Concord High Schools traveled to the Blissfield Quad on Saturday and went 1-2.  The Yellow Jackets lost to Lenawee Christian and Blissfield and defeated Sand Creek 25-20, 25-19.  Leaders for the day were Georgia Weeks with 22 kills, Hadley Kettwich had 43 assists, Karlee Gamet had 19 kills, and  Jayden Householder was 27-for-35 serving with seven aces for Concord (3-4).  Cross Country Webberville Invitational: East Jackson High School finished ninth and Northwest was 14th in the boys’ race.
