US-127/M-50 (West Avenue) Overpass at I-94 Closed Beginning Friday
(September 30, 2021 10:17 AM) The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close the US-127/M-50 (West Avenue) overpass at I-94 in Jackson for bridge demolition. The closure and detours begin on Friday, October 1 at 9 PM and will remain in effect until 6 AM on Monday, October 4. This work is part of MDOT's ongoing $120 million investment to rebuild and widen I-94 near the Airport Road interchange to just west of the east US-127/I-94 interchange in Blackman and Leoni Township. The I-94 project involves upgrading the US-127/M-50 (West Avenue)/I-94 interchange to a diverging diamond interchange, the Elm Road interchange with roundabouts, and the Lansing Avenue bridge over I-94. Northbound US-127/M-50 traffic will be detoured along eastbound I-94 to the M-106 (Cooper Street) interchange. From there, drivers can either loop back via westbound I-94 to get back to northbound US-127/M-50 or take northbound M-106 to westbound Parnall Road to get to northbound US-127/M-50. Southbound US-127/M-50 traffic will be detoured along westbound I-94 to the Airport Road interchange, then loop back on eastbound I-94 to get back to southbound US-127/M-50 (West Avenue). Please follow posted detours. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

(September 29, 2021 4:58 PM) U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow , Gary Peters and Governor Gretchen Whitmer today announced $839,438 in funding to support Center For Family Health, Inc. of Jackson. Funding from this program will support health care construction and renovation projects including the purchase of new state-of-the-art equipment. This will help these health centers strengthen primary care services in underserved communities and provide COVID-19 testing, treatment and vaccinations. This funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and was included in the American Rescue Plan. “The nurses, doctors and health care providers in these centers serve individuals and families who often fall through the cracks of our health care system. They are on the front lines of this public health crisis and have been challenged like never before. That’s why securing this funding was such a high priority for me. I’m grateful for their heroic work in keeping Michigan families safe,” said Senator Stabenow. “Community health centers have played a critical role in serving Michiganders throughout the fight to overcome this pandemic, and we must continue to support those efforts. I was pleased to help secure this funding through the American Rescue Plan, which will help provide…
