Extreme Dodge Jackson County Sports Scoreboard for Oct. 29, 2021

Football District tournament Oct. 29  Division 2 Portage Central 43, Jackson 0: The Vikings end the season with a 5-5 overall record.   Division 3 Western 15, Mattawan 0:  Nolan Wheeler scored on runs of 1 and 9 yards for the Panthers in the first half. Both teams struggled to move the football in the second half due to rainy conditions. Western will travel to Harper Creek for the district final next week.  Division 6 Michigan Center 8, Jonesville 6: Brody Shannon caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Kaydin Hiland for the Cardinals’ only score. MCHS converted on the 2-pointer to win the game. Both teams struggled to move the football on a sloppy field at Jonesville. The Cardinals will get a rematch with Constantine in the district final next week. Constantine knocked MCHS out of the playoffs last year in the regional final.  [ngg src="galleries" ids="1465" display="pro_blog_gallery"]  Division 7 Lumen Christi 42, Detroit Leadership Academy 6: The Titans led 27-0 at halftime and cruised to an easy victory over DLA in the district opener. Michigan Reports 8,078* Coronavirus Cases, State Total Now 1,128,435

(October 29, 2021 5:01 PM) Michigan reported 8,078* coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 1,128,435. Michigan is reporting 122** COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 22,182.    *Note on cases (10/29/2021): Today's daily case count represents new referrals of confirmed cases to the MDSS since the last web update report.  Over the two days (Thursday and Friday), the average number of new confirmed cases is 4039 per day. **The deaths announced today includes 64 deaths identified during a Vital Records review. See cumulative data page for more information. State Cumulative Total of Recovered COVID-19 Cases (as of 10/22/21): 982,288. Information is updated Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m.

Jackson County Cumulative Report: 21,089 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 334 Deaths

(October 29, 2021 12:00 PM)  The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 21,089 positive cases (cumulative), and 334 deaths (cumulative)*.   There are 127 new cases and 2 new deaths since yesterday’s report. The Jackson County Health Department has announced a change in reporting effective Oct. 6, 2021.  Cases defined as probable will be reported in cumulative case and death counts.  As additional methods of testing besides the PCR test have become more common, the amount of cases classified as probable has increased and are included to provide a more accurate picture of disease in our community.  As of October 20, there are 32 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.  Cumulative recovered, as of October 28: 18,347** The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category and reported by the state at Michigan Statistics. Do you know of an outstanding alumnus who deserves to be recognized? Crockett Distinguished Alumni Award Criteria    An alumnus of Jackson Junior College, Jackson Community College or Jackson College, preferably having received a degree from the College.
