Jackson County Cumulative Report: 20,843 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 333 Deaths

(October 27, 2021 12:00 PM)  The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 20,843 positive cases (cumulative), and 333 deaths (cumulative)*.   There are 140 new cases and 5 new deaths since yesterday’s report. The Jackson County Health Department has announced a change in reporting effective Oct. 6, 2021.  Cases defined as probable will be reported in cumulative case and death counts.  As additional methods of testing besides the PCR test have become more common, the amount of cases classified as probable has increased and are included to provide a more accurate picture of disease in our community.  As of October 20, there are 32 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.  Cumulative recovered, as of October 27: 18,282** The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category and reported by the state at Michigan Statistics. Extreme Dodge Jackson County Sports Scoreboard 10-26-21

Volleyball LCAA Finals: Columbia Central went 3-0 on the night to earn the Lenawee County Athletic Association outright volleyball crown. It is the first conference title for the Golden Eagles since 2010. The Golden Eagles defeated Onsted, Blissfield, and Clinton. CCHS had a record-breaking night as Kenadee Tompkins hit the 2,500 assist and 1,000 digs marks; Bailey Surque went over 1,100 kills for a career and 1,400 digs; and Sydnee Miller went over 1,000 digs for her career. The Golden Eagles finished 13-1 in the conference, earning the LCAA title when Onsted defeated Dundee. CCHS is 33-4-1 overall for the season.   Napoleon 3, Lumen Christi 1: Napoleon earned its 20th win of the season with a 25-22, 25-20, 15-25, and 25-15 win over Lumen Christi. Momo Hampton had 20 service points and 19 digs, Alyssa Budd tallied 13 kills, and Sam Conaway added nine kills for Napoleon.  Hanover-Horton Tri-meet: The Comets defeated Olivet, but lost to Fowler. Lilly Wooster finished with eight kills on the night for Hanover-Horton. Alana VanEpps tallied 19 assists in the win over Olivet.  Burr Oak 3, Jackson Christian 0: The Royal lost 25-17, 25-23, and 25-15 in SCAA volleyball. Julaina McCombs had five kills,…

Michigan Center Survives in D-3 Soccer Shootout for Regional Win

By Jeff Steers JTV Sports (October 27, 2021 7:09 AM) Michigan Center High School soccer goalie Michael VanRiper remembers the feeling of losing a tournament game via shootout. He didn’t want to experience that feeling again. VanRiper stopped the opponent’s last shot in a shootout giving Michigan Center a 1-0 win over Pontiac Notre Dame Prep in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 regional semifinal on Tuesday. The win propels the senior-laden Cardinals to the regional final against two-time defending state champions from Grosse Ile. The regional final will be played at Detroit Country Day High School on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m.  The regional winner advances to the D-3 state semifinal next Wednesday.
