(May 3, 2022 8:08 PM) The Spring Arbor University Athletic Department today announced John Williams as the new head coach of the women’s basketball program. “I want to thank the SAU Athletic Department’s search committee and President Ellis for this incredible opportunity,” said Williams. “My family and I are eager to build and maintain genuine and positive relationships with everyone in the program.” Assistant athletic director Betsy Martinez said, “We are thrilled to be adding John to our SAU Athletics family. He brings an incredible passion and energy for the game of basketball! He is bought into our mission of developing a depth of faith, skills of leadership, and strength of character within our women's basketball program.” Williams is no stranger to Spring Arbor. The SAU alum (’05) and former student-athlete has served as an Assistant Professor of Education from 2017-19, and as the university’s Dean of the School of Education since 2019, while also spending a year on the sidelines as the lead assistant for the women’s basketball team in 2017-18.
