 (February 28, 2023 7:00 AM) Consumers Energy will deploy over 600 crews from Michigan and other states today to restore power to customers affected by two major storms in less than a week.   As of 7 AM today, 7,676 Jackson County customers are awaiting restoration. “Our commitment to our customers is nothing less than all hands on deck, and that continues despite Mother Nature delivering ice and damage to new communities Monday,” said Jeff Shingler, one of Consumers Energy’s officers in charge for the event. “We appreciate people’s patience and understanding while we expect crews to make progress on a clear day today.” Monday’s storm that brought strong winds and ice interrupted power to some 45,000 homes and businesses. Consumers Energy projects most of those customers should have power by the end of the day Wednesday. Consumers Energy crews and contractors also are finishing restoration to some of the most challenging damage caused by last week’s severe weather. (February 27, 2023 6:30 PM)  Consumers Energy said this evening it is working around the clock to restore customers affected by last week’s ice storm and responding to multiple new outages caused by today’s icing, mostly in mid- and northern Michigan. Crews have restored service to about 260,000 Consumers Energy customers. Nearly all customers affected by the ice storm last week are expected to be restored by the end of today. As of 6:30 PM, in Jackson County, 10,945 customers remain without power. (14%) “There are more than 600 crews working directly on restoring customers’ power and we will stay in ‘storm mode’ -- working extended shifts, day and night -- until all our customers have their lights restored,” said Amanda Wagenschutz, one of Consumers Energy’s officers in charge for the event. “I am so impressed by the response from our customers to our hard-working employees, and on behalf of Consumers Energy sincerely thank our customers for their abundance of patience.” While work continues in southern Michigan, Consumers Energy also is dispatching crews to other counties to the north where up to a half-inch of ice could arrive during today’s storm. (February 27, 2023 4:14 PM ET) The Center for Family Health today announced the selection of Bill Wypyski as its new CEO. Wypyski will begin serving in this role starting May 30, 2023.  Wypski joins the Center with several years of experience leading community health centers. He understands the importance of providing health care services for every stage of life in an integrated model. Wypyski embraces the Center’s mission of providing access to care for all and serving patients of diverse populations with a focus on health equity.   “I am excited to move to Jackson and begin work at the Center for Family Health.
