Four Earn All-State Volleyball Honors

(November 29, 2023 4:32 PM ET) Four Jackson County high school volleyball players earned all-state honors as voted on by members of the Michigan Volleyball Coaches Association. Western High School player Kayda Herrick was named as a second-team player in Division 2. The senior was an outside hitter for the Panthers this season. Samantha Wynn of Michigan Center earned second-team honors in Division 3. The senior was an outside hitter for the Cardinals in 2023. Iyla Weeks of Concord and Natalee Krage of Hanover-Horton were voted as honorable-mention players in Division 3.  Weeks is a middle hitter for the Yellow Jackets and only a junior. Krage was a senior setter for the Comets this season.

County and City Road Closures for Construction on Thursday

 N. Meridian Rd. – Henrietta Township  The Jackson County Department of Transportation will be closing N. Meridian Rd. (between Coonhill Rd. and Zion Rd.) in Henrietta Township, for cross culvert replacement Thursday November 30, 2023 (weather permitting).  The road is expected to be opened for through traffic the end of day November 30, 2023. Detours will not be posted and motorists should seek an alternate route.  East Ganson Street - City of Jackson Drivers on Jackson’s east side will want to prepare for an upcoming street closure. E. Ganson Street between N. Waterloo Avenue and Cooper Street will be closed to all through traffic from Thursday, Nov. 30 to Wednesday, Dec. 6. The City of Jackson Department of Public Works is closing the street so crews can complete the installations of new water and sewer lines for new home construction on E. Ganson Street. E. Ganson Street is a major street on Jackson’s east side, connecting several residential and commercial areas. A detour will take drivers around the construction area using Leroy Street. Jackson County Museums Host a Variety of Holiday Events

(November 29, 2023 9:54 AM ET) From antique decorations to cookies, Christmas experiences and visits with the man in a big red suit, Jackson County's Museums host a variety of holiday-themed events and opportunities to get in the spirit of the season. Experience Jackson has compiled the details below. In Grass Lake, both the Coe House Museum and Lost Railway Museum participate in the Grass Lake Festival of Lights as stops along the Cookie Tour (Dec. 2, 10 am-2 pm). Waterloo Farm Museum and Dewey School in Grass Lake will host their annual Christmas on the Farm event (Dec. 2 & 3, 10 am-4 pm), featuring tours, baked goods, & gift items. Ella Sharp Museum, Jackson’s largest museum, hosts a variety of events. On Dec. 1-3 (10 am-5 pm), guests can visit their Holiday Market to shop Jackson artists & vendors for unique one-of-a-kind gifts. On Dec. 2 (Noon-3 pm), families can purchase a ticket for Cookies with Santa, including Mrs. Claus, cookies, photos, & a holiday market.
