Car Seat Inspection Program. 1 PM to 3 PM. Jackson area families wanting to make sure their children travel safely can take advantage of the Car Seat Inspection Program from the Jackson Fire Department. Firefighters launched the program in 2022 to provide monthly car seat checks for the Jackson area. The inspections are free! When visiting the Jackson Central Fire Station, pull into the south driveway of the fire station off of N. Jackson Street. Drive around the building past a yellow tower. There will be three large bay doors and a parking lot in front of them to park in. Firefighters will greet you once you've parked. Firefighters request parents or guardians bring their children and car seats to the inspection. Crews will look to make sure the car seat is in proper working order, fastened to the vehicle correctly, and is a safe fit for the child. A limited number of car seat replacements are available for free if firefighters find a seat is unsafe. This effort from Jackson firefighters is currently the only certified Car Seat Inspection Program in Jackson County. Respiratory Therapy Information Session. 6 p.m. Virtual Info Session. Rosie the Riveter Day at the Capitol
Four Michigan Manufacturing Councils and American Rosie the Riveter Association Willow Run Chapter invite the public to attend Rosie the Riveter Day on March 21, 2024 on the lawn of the State Capitol. This event pays homage to women who served during World War II and celebrates the ongoing contributions of women in the workforce. Rosie the Riveter emerged as a cultural icon, symbolizing millions of women who entered the workforce to support the war effort while men were serving overseas. These women took on industrial jobs, including riveting, welding, and manufacturing, traditionally held by men. The celebration promises to be a memorable occasion, featuring activities for all ages. Attendees are encouraged to dress up as Rosie the Riveter or wear denim. Event planners hope to have Rosies, five generations of women in the workplace, girl scouts, robotics teams, K12 students, families and community members take part. Outdoor Activities (3:00 - 5:00 pm): REOlds Transportation Museum, Impression 5 Science Center, Tinkr Labs, Shove It and From Scratch food trucks, GM Michigan-made vehicles, MSU Engineering Car, LBWL Water Truck, Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center's Fab Lab, Junior Achievement, Michigan Mentors T-34Flight Team flyover and a Rosie photo booth Keynote Speeches: Cindy…
