Friday, August 29 The Cataracts A Play by Rick Lenz. Directed by Gerry Blanchard.  Starring: Lidija Fremeau, Robin Brigham, Douglas Hutt, James Moles.  Rick Lenz, Jackson native and veteran actor (best known for Cactus Flower and The Shootist), returns to the stage with his original play The Cataracts. This sharp, heartfelt dramedy explores aging, family tension, and unexpected friendship. Theresa's fiery personality has driven off three previous caregivers. Enter Gordy—an ex-Marine turned free spirit whose patience and wit match Theresa’s in ways no one expects. What follows is an honest, funny, and surprising look at what it means to connect when everything else feels like it's falling apart. Jackson College Theatre Hosts Auditions for Fall Comedy

(August 28, 2025 2:32 PM ET) Jackson College invites students and community members to audition for the comedy “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” by Christopher Durang, the fall production directed by theatre faculty member Sara Anne Tomczak. Auditions will be held Sept. 9–10, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Michael Baughman Theatre, Potter Center.                 Winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” is a wickedly funny comedy that reimagines Chekhov’s classic characters (“Uncle Vanya”) in a modern setting. In a quiet Pennsylvania farmhouse, middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia bicker, dream, and complain about their lives — until their glamorous movie-star sister Masha arrives with her new, much-younger boyfriend Spike. What follows is a hilarious, poignant story about family, change, and finding your place in the world. Roles Available All roles open to both students and community members, with diverse cast members welcome. Ages listed are stage ages, flexible for casting. ·                     Vanya – 30-65, thoughtful, resigned, dry wit, deeply nostalgic. ·                     Sonia – 30-60, Vanya’s adopted sister; prone to self-pity but full of emotional depth. ·                     Masha – 30-50, glamorous, successful movie star, self-absorbed but vulnerable. ·                     Spike – 20s, Masha’s new boyfriend; handsome, energetic, loves…
