From Tom & Nicole Rooney

308 Brass Rail has been very fortunate during the covid-19 quarantine, due to many businesses in Jackson county! We have created a new avenue to stay open and have shown how creditable we are in the community.

Our story starts with Tom Rooney growing up on the southside of Jackson, on W Prospect the only bar and grill is The Brass Rail. Known as Woody’s, this bar brings the community together to create a unique family. A family of men and woman who enjoy a safe familiar atmosphere with great staff to attend to every need.

Humble beginnings with a Catholic background, and a Jackson public schools loyalty, Michael Rooney raised Tom Rooney and his sister Jennifer to respect and show local support to businesses. “If given an option, between a chain restaurant and a local business, I would say choose the local families, give your money and time to those that are struggling to run a neighborhood bar/ especially those that have good food!”

Going on three years of ownership of 308 Brass Rail, Tom and Nicole Rooney have developed a new reputation in Jackson. Coupled with Tom’s construction background, and Nicole’s restaurant experience 308 Brass Rail bar and grill has shown what they can do when the nail hits the wall!

When the covid-19 outbreak happen in early March, Tom knew that the community had to say strong in order to get past the quarantine.
Some key figures to come forward, the first being Rick Reardon of ERA Reardon Realty. Rick wanted to feed essential workers for a full day, fortunately for Rick Nicole Rooney works for Henry Ford Allegiance health. She had the right connections.
Nicole helped ERA Reardon Realty to contact the covid units of the hospital, and by the end of the day 308 Brass Rail had served 135 local Frontline workers. These workers included postal men, hospital workers, meat market employees, and all sorts of front-line workers.
