Spring Arbor, Michigan– The Spring Arbor University men’s basketball team is having one of their best seasons in recent memory. They stand at 9-1 on the season. If their record isn’t impressive enough, take the fact that their one loss is to one of the best teams in the country. 7th ranked Cornerstone University defeated the Cougars by a slim eight point margin.

SAU’s most recent win came against 16th ranked University of Saint Francis (Ind.). The final tally was a blowout. Spring Arbor University won in decided fashion, 82-67. That’s now their eighth straight win. It was also the programs Crossroads League play opener.

The team is shooting the lights out. An average of over 83 points per game at a 51% clip from the floor. This is in comparison with the 41% their opponents have shot and nearly 20 points per game less average.

They’ve won the battle on the boards, average 37 per game, and have shared the ball more effectively. With 17 rebounds per contest.

The squad has excellent players up and down the stat sheets, but Paul Marandet has stood out. With 17 steals, 70 assists and 160 points, he has been the ultimate team player and leader for the squad.

Head coach Ryan Cottingham is in his 20th season as the head coach of the Spring Arbor University men’s basketball program. He has to be terribly happy with the success the program has seen so far this year.

Their next game will be at Grace College on Tuesday the 27th. You can purchase tickets at the Field House prior to tip off. The contest will begin at 7pm.
