SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Anthony Qasawa, a 6-foot-4 wing from North Farmington High School has signed with Spring Arbor University. Qasawa joins a stellar recruiting class that includes 6-foot-11 freshman Kyle Bartholomew (Holland), 6-foot-4 sophomore Marq Rogers (Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran/University of Montana), 6-foot-3 freshman Luke Barber (Inter-City Baptist) and 6-foot-1 freshman Tommy Hamilton (Thornapple Kellogg).

A three-year varsity player, the versatile Qasawa had a breakout senior year as he averaged 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals per game in helping lead the Raiders to a 19-4 record and a district title. Qasawa was selected All-Oakland Activities Association Red Division First Team as well as All-Area First Team.

Qasawa possesses a soft touch from long range as he shot 37 percent from behind the arc but could also convert from in close. He set the single season school record for free throw percentage during his senior campaign as he connected on 84.9 percent of his attempts. For his career, Qasawa made 82 percent of his free throws, which is also a school record.

“Anthony has really put a lot of time into becoming an all-around basketball player and it’s paying off for him,” commented North Farmington head coach Todd Negoshian. “He found a great situation at SAU where he will excel as a player and as a person.”

Anthony finished his academic prep career with a 3.1 grade point average and intends to pursue a degree in engineering. He is the son of Safaa and Milad Qasawa.

“Anthony can score the basketball. He has a good feel for the game and plays with a lot of confidence,” stated SAU head coach Ryan Cottingham. “Anthony is a great young man and will make us better on and off the court.”
