SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University director of athletics Ryan Cottingham has announced that Michael Hall has been named the inaugural head coach of the men’s and women’s bowling programs at SAU.
“We are elated that Michael Hall has accepted the invitation to be our first bowling coach in the history of Spring Arbor University,” said Cottingham. “He embodies the mission of SAU and our athletic department.”
Hall comes to Spring Arbor with 25 years of experience in the sport. Prior to his arrival, he spent one year at Cornerstone University where he served as the head men’s and women’s bowling coach. Hall was instrumental in getting the first-year program off the ground at CU and will be tasked with the same duty at SAU.
“You know, leaving Cornerstone has been bittersweet,” said Hall. “I pioneered the program there, as I will be doing at SAU, so saying ‘goodbye’ to them amongst the excitement of the ‘hello’ at SAU has been a little emotional. The loving welcome from Spring Arbor has been incredible and truly the Light of God shines in everyone my family has met! Through this experience I have witnessed God every step of the way and have an incredible testimony about pursuing dreams, being used, and how He goes before us to prepare. I look forward to the opportunities ahead and the great connections to be made!”
In addition to his time coaching at the collegiate level, Hall was also the varsity boy’s and girl’s coach at West Catholic High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan for five years. During his time at West Catholic, he guided the Falcons to three regional championships and two conference titles while producing one state champion.
“Coach Hall’s bowling expertise combined with his leadership skill set will enable him to recruit high quality student-athletes,” added Cottingham. “He is passionate about using the sport of bowling to impact lives for the kingdom.”
Hall and his wife, Jennifer, currently reside in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
