Volleyball

Western Quad: Grass Lake High School lost to Western and Chelsea in three sets. The Warriors were defeated by Western 25-19, 22-25, and 25-15. They defeated Ida 26-24 and 25-21 to end the day 4-4. Abby Buttigieg finished with 39 digs, Mia Buttigieg finished with 19 digs, Olivia Turner finished with 12 kills, and Catherine Cottle finished with 40 assists.  Western went 3-0 on the day with two other wins against Ida and Chelsea. Lael Falde finished with 12 kills and four blocks, Lilli Luma scored  18 kills, Kayda Herrick tallied 13 kills, Brynn Rogers created 63 assists, and Hillary Griffin finished with 24 kills for Western (4-0). 

Blissfield Quad: Concord High Schools traveled to the Blissfield Quad on Saturday and went 1-2.  The Yellow Jackets lost to Lenawee Christian and Blissfield and defeated Sand Creek 25-20, 25-19.  Leaders for the day were Georgia Weeks with 22 kills, Hadley Kettwich had 43 assists, Karlee Gamet had 19 kills, and  Jayden Householder was 27-for-35 serving with seven aces for Concord (3-4). 

Cross Country

Webberville Invitational: East Jackson High School finished ninth and Northwest was 14th in the boys’ race. Javin Mericle of EJHS was 23rd in the boys’ race (19:32) and Hudson Cooper of NWHS finished 47th (20:33). The Mounties placed 12th in the girls’ 5K event. Lainey Reynolds finished 53rd for the Mounties (25:24). East Jackson did not have enough finishers for a team score, but Priya Mericle was 18th for the Trojans (23:18). 

Harper Creek Invitational: Hanover-Horton finished third in the boys’ event and fourth in the girls’ 5K. Rogan Melling finished second in the boys’ race in 16 minutes, 50 seconds. Isabella Berry was 10th in the girls’ event in 23:41. 


Michigan Catholic Invitational: Lumen Christi Catholic High School finished fifth in the girls’ 5K run. Madison Osterberg won the girls’ race in 19 minutes, 29 seconds. The Titans finished fourth in the boys’ race as Matt Hoop was sixth overall in 17:49. 

Boys soccer

Jackson at Loy Norrix: The Vikings lost a pair of 8-0 games to Loy Norrix and Grand Rapids Union during the tournament at Loy Norrix.  

Lumen Christi 3, Columbia Central 0: The Titans won their home opener against Columbia Central. Karl Hunt scored a pair of goals for the Titans in the win. 

Northwest 2, Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard 1: The Mounties earned a home win on Saturday. 

Boys tennis

Northwest at Coldwater: The Mounties won the Coldwater Invitational with three wins against Coldwater, Bronson, and Three Rivers. The Mounties swept the doubles competition against the three teams. Landon Schroeder and Karson Schroeder won three matches at No. 1 doubles; No. 2 doubles team Alex Thrun and Drew Maples were undefeated on the day; Lincoln Keathley and Garrett Waldron went 3-0 at No. 3 doubles; and Gavin Rush and Kaleb Kittinger-Munro won three matches at No. 4 doubles. Elijah Haledane of Northwest was also undefeated on the day at No. 3 singles. 

Western at Portland: The Panthers won the event with 11 points. Big Rapids scored nine points, Coopersville finished with seven, and the host school had four points. Ryan Perkins was 3-0 at No. 1 singles and Noah McCollum was undefeated at No. 4 doubles for Western. Micah Hall and Jesse Pratt were 3-0 at No. 1 doubles for the Panthers. 

 St. Pope Paul Tennis Quad: Lumen Christi Catholic High School defeated Lansing Catholic, Gabriel Richard and Flint Powers to win the title.
