The final restoration of more than 350,000 customers affected by last week’s devastating wind storm is expected today, while the National Weather Service is forecasting a return to winter.  Consumers Energy has had thousands of employees, contractors and crews from six states working around the clock since the windstorm struck last Wednesday and expects to wrap up today.

Meanwhile, periods of light snow are expected from early this morning through tonight. Accumulations will range from 2 to 5 inches across the southwest quarter of Lower Michigan.  . Temperatures will remain in the 20s both today and tonight so there will likely be some slippery spots that develop on area roadways.

Because of the widespread nature of the more than 7,000 individual power outages from last week’s storm, Consumers Energy is asking customers still without power to contact then at 800-477-5050 or by visiting www.ConsumersEnergy.com/OutageCenter to confirm their outage.  Also at this location, customers can check the status of an outage and get useful tips what to do before, during and after a storm.

Consumers Energy is focusing these customer outage confirmation requests in the following hard-hit counties: Barry, Calhoun, Eaton, Genesee, Hillsdale, Ingham, Jackson and Lenawee.
